The Ultimate Guide For Being Plus Sized Disney World

Plus Size Magic Kingdom

As Magic Kingdom is the most popular park that people visit, it only makes sense that they have more accessible rides and attractions that everyone can enjoy. Magic Kingdom is working on new rides and attractions as well so let’s hope they are accessible for all as well.

Plus Size Magic Kingdom Rides

With Magic Kingdom being one of the biggest Disney World parks you can bet there are loads of rides. Take a look at the rides below to see which ones best suit you.

  • Big Thunder Mountain. A Bench seat, no seatbelts but has an adjustable lap bar. Two adults, snug fit. The first ride we went on and we loved it!
  • The Barnstormer. This Goofy ride is a lot of fun. They have individual seats that are fine for plus size people. Minimal leg room so no bags. We went on it twice, and highly recommended it.
  • Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. Comfortable ride for plus size passengers. Bench seat with a pull down lap bar. Easily fits two plus size adults.
  • The Haunted Mansion. Car style ride. Lots of room, a lap bar that goes down as far as the rider needs and can easily fit two plus size adults.
  • It’s A Small World. The boat has bench seating, may be difficult to get in. No seatbelts or lap bars but there isn’t much legroom, not suitable if you have several bags.
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant. This has a bench seat with adjustable seatbelts. There’s enough space for two adults although you may be more comfortable with one per seating.
  • Jungle Cruise. Bench seating, not loads of leg room so not suitable with several bags. May be back to back with other passengers.
  • Carousel of Progress. Theatre seating, which is slightly on the small side and could be uncomfortable
  • Magic Carpets of Aladdin. This ride has bench seating with an adjustable seat belt. Plus sized people are recommended to sit by themselves or share with a child. May not fit two plus size people.
  • PeopleMover. The seats on this ride are bench seating, with lots of room.
  • Space Mountain. Bucket seats, are not that spacious for plus size people. We managed to go on this although it was a tight squeeze. The lap bar can be tight and due to the ride, it can dig into you when there are sharp drops and cause injury.
  • Tomorrowland Speedway. The seats are small with minimal legroom, not plus size friendly.
  • Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid. This ride uses bench seating and has an adjustable lap bar and enough leg room. Great for plus size people.
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Smaller seats which are unsuitable for plus size people, especially with wide hips.
  • Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. This ride has bench seating designed for two passengers and with a lap bar that comes down to a comfortable and suitable position.
  • Pirates of the Caribbean. Bench seating which is big enough for four passengers but most of the time the staff allocate a bench per party so you should be fine. Minimal leg room not suitable with lots of bags.
  • Peter Pan’s Flight. This ride has a pull down lap bar and can comfortably fit two plus size adults.
  • Mad Tea Party. Circle “bench seating”. Not that suitable for plus size adults due to the “steering wheel” in the middle being in the way.
  • Prince Charming Regal Carousel. Difficult to use with mobility issues. Shouldn’t be an issue for plus size people but check the ride before using as to your needs.

Plus Size Magic Kingdom Attractions

Magic Kingdom attractions are a big part of what makes the castle so magical. They’re also perfect for plus size people or people that just don’t like rides but want to have a great time when they visit the Walt Disney Magic Kingdom park.

  • Hall of Presidents. The seating is theatre seating, there are armrests which don’t move which might make it a tight fit.
  • Enchanted Tiki Room. This attraction has bench seating, no restrictions but just don’t take loads of bags with you.
  • Country Bear Jamboree. There is bench seating, the seats are pretty uncomfortable but plus size people won’t have any issues otherwise.
  • Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. A must-visit, the bench seating gives you loads of room and even leg room. It’s quite a laugh and an attraction we recommend.
  • Mickey’s PhilharMagic. The seats are a little smaller and it’s not recommended for people with wider hips and thighs. There is disability seating for wheelchair users although you don’t get the full experience as you don’t have a chair that moves etc.

Magic Kingdom Fireworks Plus Size Guests Tips

A lot of people forget all about the fireworks when they’re planning what rides to go on and everything they’re going to do that day. However, if you want to watch the fireworks it may mean standing around for at least an hour. When we arrived an hour early to get our spot, most of the area was taken.

Our advice for plus size people wanting to see the Magic Kingdom fireworks, get there super early, try and find a bench to sit on and then you can stand during the fireworks. I even saw people with folding chairs. There is an area for wheelchair users but you will need to get there early to secure a decent spot before it fills up.

We hope this post helped and that you have an amazing plus size time at Magic Kingdom. If you have any question just ask. If anything has changed since this post was written that is out of our control but we’ll try and update it whenever we can.
