Staycity Aparthotels, Dublin, Mark Street – Our Review

As two guys who love to travel, we’re always on the lookout for places that combine comfort, style, and convenience. Our recent trip to Dublin brought us to at the Staycity Aparthotels on Mark Street, and we were impressed with our stay that we felt it was only right to share our experience with you all. Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or a longer stay in Dublin, this is the place to consider if you want a home away from home. Here’s a detailed breakdown of what we loved about Staycity, and why we’ll definitely be returning on our next trip to Ireland’s vibrant capital.

We stayed in an aparthotel in Amsterdam, liked the idea of what they are and how they work, so when we can, we try and stay in these due to what we like about them.

Location, Location, Location!

First things first – we’ve got to talk about the location. Staycity Aparthotels Dublin, Mark Street, is perfectly situated for anyone looking to explore the Dublin city centre. Just a stone’s throw from Grafton Street, Dublin’s premier shopping destination, you’ll be able to pop out and indulge in some retail therapy or grab a coffee without going too far. It’s also within walking distance of Dublin’s main attractions – Trinity College, St. Stephen’s Green, Temple Bar, and plenty of great restaurants and pubs.

We were there to watch a show called This Might Get Weird, which is a podcast by Grace Helbig and Mamrie Hart. This is the first time that they have toured in Europe since the podcast started. I’m sure Louis will be reviewing that soon.

We appreciated how close everything was and spent most of our days walking around the city, which was incredibly convenient given the apartment’s central location. It’s also a great spot for anyone who enjoys public transport, with the Luas (Dublin’s light rail) and bus routes nearby. The location certainly made our trip easier and stress-free, allowing us to spend more time enjoying Dublin and less time worrying about transport.

Warm Welcome and Check-In Process

Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff at the reception. The check-in process was smooth, and we were given all the information we needed about our stay, including access to Wi-Fi and local recommendations. The Wifi wasn’t the best, but we did have data on our phones that we can use. One thing we loved was how professional and approachable the staff were, making us feel welcome from the very start.

We also noticed the reception area was sleek and modern, with a nice, calming vibe – it set the tone for our stay right away. After a quick check-in, we were shown the direction to our apartment, and we couldn’t wait to get settled in.

The Apartment – Spacious and Well-Equipped

When we opened the door to our apartment, we were pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of the apartment. As soon as we walked in, we felt right at home. The apartment was not only modern and stylish but also very comfortable – it ticked all the boxes for a great stay. The living area was open and airy, and the décor had a clean, contemporary look with warm tones, making it feel cosy and welcoming.

The highlight for us was the bed – we slept like absolute babies. The mattress was super comfy, and the bedding was fresh and crisp, making it the perfect place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. There was plenty of space around the bed too, which meant we never felt cramped or on top of each other (a bonus for any couple staying in a hotel!).

A Little Kitchen – Perfect for Self-Catering

One of the best features of Staycity Aparthotels is the kitchenette. If you’re someone who enjoys making breakfast in bed or wants to save some cash by cooking a few meals during your trip, this is an excellent feature. The kitchen came with everything we needed to prepare simple meals – a small fridge, microwave, stove, and kettle. We made ourselves a couple of simple dinners and breakfasts, and it worked perfectly. One thing we didn’t find was the bin. So we were using a bag for our rubbish. It wasn’t until day 3 that we found the bin hidden in a cupboard, it would have come in handy sooner, but it was all good in the end.

There was also a decent selection of utensils and cookware, which was ideal if you prefer a self-catering option while travelling. Plus, there’s a Tesco Metro just a short walk away, so stocking up on essentials like snacks, drinks, and breakfast items was a breeze. The kitchenette really gave us the flexibility we wanted during our stay, and it was especially nice to have the option of cooking our own meals if we didn’t want to go out.

The Bathroom – Practical

The bathroom was another pleasant surprise. It was modern, clean, and not overly spacious, and only enough room for one of us to get ready at a time in the mornings. There was a lovely walk-in shower with great water pressure – the kind of shower that makes you feel relaxed and refreshed after a long day of exploring the city. We also appreciated the large mirror and ample counter space, which made it easy to get ourselves organised in the mornings.

The bathroom came equipped with all the usual amenities – towels, toiletries, and a hairdryer. It was a nice touch to have high-quality bath products, as it made us feel a little bit pampered during our stay. Overall, it was a functional and comfortable space, perfect for a city break.

The Extras – A Few Things That Made a Difference

Staycity also offers a few extra touches that really elevated our stay. For one, the apartment had nice views of Dublin. Storage space was an issue, this was limited unless you were happy to have suitcases around the apartment.

Additionally, the apartment had an in-room safe, which was great for keeping our valuables secure while we were out and about. We also noticed that the building itself was secure, with keycard access to the apartments and common areas, giving us peace of mind during our stay.

Overall Impressions – Would We Stay Again?

We had a great stay at Staycity Aparthotels on Mark Street, and it’s safe to say that we would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Dublin. The apartment was perfect for our needs – spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped. The location couldn’t have been better for exploring the city, and the staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The kitchenette gave us the flexibility to self-cater, which was a bonus, and the bathroom was clean and spacious.

If you’re looking for a place that offers more than just a standard hotel room, Staycity is definitely worth considering. Whether you’re in Dublin for a quick city break or a longer stay, it provides everything you need to feel right at home while also offering the comforts of a hotel. We would definitely book again the next time we’re in Dublin!

Rating: 4/5 – The apartment was great, and the location is ideal, with only a few minor things we would improve, like the ability to get an earlier check-in and better wifi. However, the overall experience was top-notch, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in Dublin. Highly recommend!
